Scheme of State Sports Hostel
The Sports Hostel Scheme was launched in our State in the year 1985 with the objective to enable the talented young Sports persons to undergo systematic coaching for a prolonged period. As per the scheme, the young talented boys and girls in the age group of 10-14 yrs. are selected from the grass-root level through a rigorous process of tests which include anthropometrics as well as series of battery of tests. After determining their motor capabilities, they are finally selected on the basis of their performance in
specific skill tests. The Sports Hostel scheme has paid rich dividends as large number of Sports Hostel products have proved their worth in National and International tournaments. At present there are 14 Sports Hostels and 3 Centers of Excellence functioning in the State

Funding Pattern : Stipend of the inmates @ Rs. 2250/- per head per month, Sports kits and uniforms, medicine, bedding materials, admission fees of Schools and T.A/D.A etc. for attending different National/International tournaments and coaching camp wherever necessary. Scie

Eligibility Criteria : Mostly sportpersons are eligible for this scheme. For this he or she should maintain some formalities, i. The applicant has to apply in the prescribed from for registration of his or her name incorporating therein all relevant details along with attested photo copies of certificates and testimonials. Three specimen signature of the applicant and three recent passport size colour photographs may also be furnished by the applicant at the time of submission of applicant. ii. He or She should have represented the State in Senior National Championship or Tournament in any one of the recognized sports disciplines as approved by the Government from time to time. The participation certificate needs to be issued by the recognized Association or Federation or Organising Body. Certificate in the letter Head of the concerned or Federation Association shall not be entertained for consideration. iii. Director Sports and Youth Services will issue Sports Identity Card to be deserving cases observing required formalities at his level.
